Travellers’ 10 Commandments

1. Expectest-thou not to find things as they are in thine own land. For thou hast left thine own country to seek out different things.
2. Knowest-thou the location of thine passport at all times. For a man without a passport is a man without a country.
3. Be-est-thou able to make change in any land, for then thou shalt never be cheated.
4. Be thou able to greet and thank in any language, and thou shalt always be welcome in any land.
5. Carry-est thou always thine toilet paper.
6. Know thou the source of thine water and guard its purity.
7. Retain thine sense of perspective, of reality, of humour and above all thine sense of self-respect.
8. Thou shalt not compare any man or his country by thine own standards, but by the warmth of his smile, the sincerity of his welcome and the twinkle in his eye.
9. Seek thou friends in unlikely places. Place thy trust in thine fellow man.
10. Thou shalt keep thine mind open to new experiences at all times and embracest-thou the opportunity to gather tales for later-telling.
